Enjoying the beaches. The nearest are Dalmore, Dalbeg and Bernera. Slightly further away are Reef and Uig and the Harris beaches are easily worth the trip.

Archaeological sites. The Callanish stones ( The three nearest stone circles are visible from the house). Carloway Broch. The Norse-style mill, replica Iron-age house on Bernera and many others. Some of the more remote sites make excellent walking trips - maps and map references are in the house.

Local and Social History. Visit the black houses and museums at Gearrannan and Arnol. Note the small museums and many monuments all over the islands to the Land-grabbers, the enforced re-distribution of populations and the travels of Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Harris Tweed. Visit the factories at Carloway and Shawbost. There are two shops in Tarbert, one of which holds hundreds of tweeds in a big warehouse.
